Rustic and pure, we are in the middle of nature, the Trevelez River at our feet, surrounded by wild fauna. Our only neighbors are Iberian goats, wild boars, badgers, golden eagles and much more. The grounds are full of fruit trees, vegetable patches, bee hives and vine yards with entirely organic products.

The Refugio is 5km from Pitres. Located at Barranco de la Sangre, kilometer 17 of the Orgiva/Trevelez road, in a 4x4 you can arrive at the Refugio, if not there is parking down a track 300 meters from the Refugio, we offer a transfer service from kilometer 17, the parking or Pitres.

Mario holds the first place prize for the quality of Andalusian honey. The bees live in the grounds and make the best pure honey

Unexplored virgin area

It went from a "civilized" state to a wild state in the 50s and 60s of the last century. Almost vertical and dry slopes that were abandoned en masse by the population, who emigrated to other lands.

Local Herbs Workshop

Workshops on edible, medicinal and dangerous plants of the Alpujarra and the Sierra Nevada National Park with Julio Donat author of "A tus plantas Alpujarra".

Far from civilization it was peaceful with views of the mountains and a river gorge far below. My stay was comfortable. Hot showers, plenty of charging outlets at each bed. Clean blankets and sheets! I was expecting much less. The kitchen has everything you need including a microwave. Theres a nice patio outside to sit and enjoy the beautiful night sky. Jon also has an interesting collection of books and material to browse through. This place is a great value.
